Requirements

Principal Legal Advisor:
  • An LLB degree and admission as an Attorney or Advocate
(Passed Bar Examination)

  • Minimum of 8 years relevant experience in employment and
labour law, and administrative law, including general litigation.

  • Supervisory experience
  • Sound knowledge of Local Government legislation, Labour
Legislation, Employee Relations Practices, HR policies

and procedures

  • Knowledge of corporate governance principles
  • Computer literacy in MS Office suite.
Senior Legal Advisor/ Legal Advisor:
  • An LLB degree and admission as an Attorney or Bar
Advocate (passed bar examination)

  • At least three (3) to four (4) years’ minimum post-admission
experience in a senior position and relevant legal environment

(Senior Legal Advisor)

  • At least two (2) years’ minimum post-admission experience
in a relevant legal environment (Legal Advisor)

  • Providing legal advice, guidance, assistance and written
legal opinions

  • Computer literacy in MS Office Suite
  • Sound knowledge of Local Government legislation, policies
and procedures

  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to simultaneously work on multiple tasks, with minimum
supervision

  • Ability to diligently work on high volumes of work under
considerable

pressure

  • Ability to manage and advise various stakeholders within the
environment of local government.
