Introduction

Murray & Roberts Cementation invites suitably qualified candidates to apply for the position of Shift Supervisor Mining to be placed in Venetia, Limpopo. The successful candidate will report to the Mine Overseer. The company will provide remuneration and benefits relevant and appropriate to the position. Preference will be given to Historically Disadvantaged South African (HDSA) candidates. Applications only open to South African Citizens / Permanent Residents.

Job description

The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not be limited to:

  • Reception and delivery if employees/equipment/material to the underground operation
  • Effective risk management and compliance with DMR, M&RC and client requirements
  • Cost containment
  • Stakeholder engagement
  • Competent, motivated and positive team
  • Effective self-management alignment with M&RC values and leadership initiatives
  • Compliance with SHEQ, M&RC and client standards, policies and procedures

Minimum requirements

Suitable candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications and skills:
  • Grade 12 or NQF 4 equivalent
  • Blasting Certificate of competency
  • Recognised Shift Supervisor Certificate
  • Valid First Aid Certificate
  • Medical Certificate of Fitness
  • Team leadership skills
  • Sound planning, co-ordination and monitoring skills
  • Good communication skills in English
Suitable candidates must have the following work experience:
  • 3 Years’ experience in an underground mining environment as a Miner
  • Exposure to acting as a Shift Supervisor would be advantageous
  • Depending on the role he/she is performing, mining, sinking, development, stoping and/or Timberman experience could be required
  • Knowledge of SHEQ standard and requirement
  • Resourceful problem solver who can work within agree parameters
