Duties/Pligte
  • Developing and evaluating learning and teaching materials for the BEd Foundation Phase programme;
  • Developing education students¿ skills in teaching emerging and early literacy;
  • Research and publication in selected speciality areas;
  • Supervision of postgraduate students;
  • Administrative responsibilities relevant to the job level concerned;
  • Rendering appropriate services to Stellenbosch University and the teaching community.
  • Ontwikkel en evalueer leer- en onderrigmateriaal vir die BEd Grondslagfase-program;
  • Ontwikkel onderwysstudente se vaardighede met die onderrig van ontluikende en vroeë geletterdheid;
  • Navorsing en publikasie op sekere spesialiteitsgebiede;
  • Studieleiding vir nagraadse studente;
  • Administratiewe verantwoordelikhede wat met die betrokke posvlak verband hou;
  • Lewer toepaslike diens aan die Universiteit Stellenbosch en die onderwysgemeenskap.

Job Requirements/Pos Vereistes
  • A relevant masters degree;
  • Evidence of at least one article published in peer-reviewed journals;
  • Willingness to supervise postgraduate students;
  • A relevant BEd or equivalent teaching qualification with a preferable specialisation in early childhood development or foundation phase teaching;
  • Thorough knowledge of current changes, policies and practices in early childhood development or foundation phase teaching and education;
  • Relevant experience in early childhood development or foundation phase teaching in the primary school context and/or higher education.
  • n Tersaaklike meestersgraad;
  • Bewys van minstens een gepubliseerde artikel in eweknie-beoordeelde vaktydskrifte;
  • Bereidwilligheid om studieleiding aan nagraadse studente te bied;
  • n Toepaslike BEd of gelykwaardige onderwyskwalifikasie met n verkieslike spesialisering in vroeë kinderontwikkeling of grondslagfase-onderrig;
  • Deeglike kennis van huidige veranderinge, beleide en praktyke in vroeë kinderontwikkeling of grondslagfase-onderrig en -opvoeding;
  • Toepaslike ervaring in vroeë kinderontwikkeling of grondslagfase-onderwys in n laerskoolkonteks en/of tersiêre onderrig.

Recommendation/Aanbeveling
  • A PhD or proof of registration for a relevant PhD (past proposal stage);
  • Emerging scholarship around literacy development;
  • Language skills for learning and teaching across the curriculum, especially in the foundation phase;
  • Experience and/or knowledge of computer-assisted instruction;
  • Published articles in peer-reviewed and indexed journals.
  • Peer-reviewed papers delivered at recognised education conferences.

  • Ontluikende akademieskap ten opsigte van geletterdheidsontwikkeling;
  • Taalvaardighede vir leer en onderrig regoor die kurrikulum, veral in die grondslagfase;

  • Gepubliseerde artikels in portuur-beoordeelde en geïndekseerde vaktydskrifte.
  • Eweknie-beoordeelde referate wat by erkende onderwyskonferensies gelewer is.
