NMI is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Compliance Specialist to join our dynamic Compliance and Risk team. Reporting to NMIs Director of Compliance and Risk, you will be responsible for ensuring that NMIs operations comply with all relevant regulations, industry standards, and internal policies. This role will play a critical part in maintaining NMIs culture of compliance and reputation as a trusted payment service provider.
What you will do:
- Assist the Director of Compliance and Risk with identifying changes in regulatory requirements and industry standards; update policies and procedures accordingly
- Serve as the primary point of contact for external due diligence and audit inquiries from various third-parties, including NMIs vendors, customers, sponsor bank(s) and other various partners; coordinate responses and remediation efforts as needed
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product, legal, finance, marketing, security, and risk, to implement compliance initiatives, provide guidance on regulatory matters, and work on assigned tasks across the company
- Assist Director of Compliance and Risk in management and execution of internal risk assessment and gap analysis processes
- Assist with complaint tracking and resolution management
- Track and monitor Compliance tickets in NMIs Jira ticketing system
- Prepare and present reports on compliance and risk management activities
- Support and monitor NMIs compliance training requirements to ensure staff completion and training module coverage is managed accordance with requirements and NMI policies
- Stay informed about emerging trends and best practices in compliance management within the payment industry
- Promotes a corporate culture which makes compliance a top priority
What we hope you will bring:
- High school degree or equivalent; Associates and/or Bachelors degree preferred
- Minimum of 1 to 3 years of compliance experience in the financial services, FinTech and/or payment processing industry
- Experience with laws and regulations impacting the payment and merchant acquiring space; i.e. the Bank Secrecy Act, Anti-Money Laundering Act, US PATRIOT Act, Reg II, OFAC / sanctions, US data protection and privacy laws, GDPR, and network operating rules
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail; ability to interpret complex regulatory documents and requirements
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to maintain confidential customer & Company information in a responsible and secure manner
- Open to learn and adapt to ongoing changes and new processes
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels
- Specific industry certification such as CRCM, ETA CPP, or CAFCA, etc. a plus

- Annual salary of R500,000 - R650,000 depending on experience.
- 45-hour work week
