Candidates must be in Cape Town to attend face to face interviews.

An Ophthalmology practice in Cape Town CBD is seeking a dedicated and professional Ophthalmic Technician (OT) to join their team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of the practice and providing exceptional care to patients.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Schedule appointments for patients.
Welcome and receive patients in the practice.
Answer telephone calls.
Open patient files and allocate account numbers.
Arrange and receive payment of consultation fees prior to the first consultation, if applicable.
Issue receipts for payments received.
Communicate with theatres regarding procedures, medical equipment, and materials needed.
Assist in obtaining authorisations and verify existing authorisations.
Type reports and manage filing.
Collaborate with MFI’s management and personnel to ensure the smooth running of the practice and claims.
Assist the ophthalmologist with patient care and procedures.
Handle patient interactions and provide assistance.
Clean and sterilise instruments and equipment.
Maintain the cleanliness and organisation of consultation rooms.
Assist with stocktake and administrative duties.
Prepare patients for investigations and procedures.
Obtain patient consent and perform special investigations.
Set up sterile trays for procedures.

Qualifications and Skills:
Prior experience in a medical or ophthalmic setting is required.
Strong organisational and administrative skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
Ability to work collaboratively with the medical team and management.
Attention to detail and high standards of cleanliness and care.
